A (Love) Letter from the Editor
Hi! I’m Emma, a certified developmental editor specializing in all things romance and romantasy. For as long as I can remember, I have absolutely lived for the magic that a love story creates. The better part of my life has been spent feverishly reading past my bedtime, waiting for the moment that the slow burn catches fire. The moment when there’s a slip of the tongue, a sudden declaration of love, and the enemies become lovers. I love it. I love it so much, in fact, that I decided to make it my job!
My goal at Damsel in the Drafts is to help authors capture the magical giddiness and genuine tension that we as readers feel when a story is really, really good. I’m a reader first, editor second, and it’s important to me that my clients leave with a book that we would both be ecstatic to pull from a shelf. I know that it’s tough to give your heart’s work over to a stranger for review, and I don’t take that lightly. Whether it’s an epic love story set against the backdrop of a seven-book fantasy series or a gentle friends-to-lovers standalone, I always treat each manuscript with the same care and consideration. Above all else and regardless of what type of help you need, my promise to you is that your art will be treated with respect.
If that sounds good to you, take a look through the services I offer and grab a spot on my calendar for a free intro call. Before we meet, you’ll fill out a form that will give me an idea of what your book is about, what your needs are, and how I can help meet them! If you have any questions about the process or my work, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I can’t wait to work with you!
With love,
Emma
